Jasbeena is the principal and general partner of Syena Capital Management, based in Greenwich, Connecticut, and manages a thematic-based, high-conviction, global emerging markets portfolio. In addition, she is also the co-founder and of Katsura Asset Management, where she co-manages individual investment portfolios.
Jasbeena has been in the investment industry in the analysis of international capital markets and securities for over two decades. Prior to forming Syena Capital Management, she was a Director at Argonaut Capital Management, responsible for co-managing and directing investment research in a global equities portfolio. Jasbeena was part of the International Equity team at Evergreen Asset Management and the co-portfolio manager of the Wachovia Emerging Markets Fund at Wachovia Asset Management. She started her investment career at Royal Trust Investments in Canada, now part of the Royal Bank of Canada Financial Group.
She is the co-founder and the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance, a nonprofit based in New York City. The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance enables institutional emerging market investors to support good governance, promote sustainable development, and improve investment performance in the governments and companies in which they invest. Jasbeena was raised in Singapore and completed her undergraduate degree in Canada, earning her BA degree in Economics from York University in Toronto. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and earned an MBA in Finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business. She is currently on the board of Streets International, a non-profit organization based in New York that trains vulnerable, orphaned and other disadvantaged young people in Southeast Asia for careers in hospitality. In addition, she is a past board member of the YWCA in Greenwich, CT as well as a past board member of the Indian Cultural Center in Greenwich.
